OUR STORY
Jess opened Gels by Jess Esthetics in 2014 as a part-time nail salon business in her home. She started with just shellac manicures and only 3 polish colours! The community of Matheson and surrounding area was so unbelievably supportive of her small business that Jess was able to add serviced to her salon as the years passed. While the business grew, so did her aspirations. In 2018, thanks to the support of her clients, Jess and her husband Bill bought 417 Seventh Ave which, at the time, was a residential dwelling. Jess and Bill spent a year renovating to turn the house into a salon, doing almost all of the renovations themselves. In July 2019, they opened Gels by Jess Esthetic's new location and have been proud to serve the Matheson and surrounding areas including Kirkland Lake, Iroquois Falls, Cochrane, Kapuskasing, Timmins, and even North Bay.
Jess' favourite comment about the salon is "This is the salon Matheson built!"

Jess never stopped expanding her skills in the beauty industry; while training primarily at the International Beauty Institute in Mississauga, ON, she acquired certificates in 12 different service areas. She is also Smart Tan Canada Certified.
Jess is constantly looking to build upon her knowledge in the esthetics industry as well as expanding the list of services the salon provides. She is committed to providing an upscale salon experience to all of her clients as well as building quality relationships with each and every one.
Kristina Deering
Hairstylist
Kristina graduated from La Luma Academy in Guelph, ON in 2013 and joined their staff as a stylist and educator. In the spring of 2014, she moved back home to Timmins, ON, where she worked until April of 2021. After having her son in May of 2021, Kristina and her husband decided to move to his family home in Ramore, ON. Since then, Kristina has been welcomed to Gels by Jess Esthetics! Kristina loves building trusting relationships with her clients and strives to make them feel like to best version of themselves.
